The AGM unanimously re-elected Danny Kruger MP and Baroness Finlay as Co-Chairs, and Sir Stephen Timms MP as Vice-Chair. Mary Glindon MP was elected as an officer for the first time.
Dr David Randall from Our Duty Of Care (ODOC) then gave the APPG an update on the state of Assisted Dying around the world, with a focus on the United Kingdom. He provided his thoughts on what was driving the international move toward legalisation, as exemplified in Canada, and pointed out that, despite popular use of misleading statistics, polling suggests that those more involved with end of life care were less likely to support AD.
Some questions followed, including on the role of disability campaigners, the effects on suicide rates, the situation in Scotland, and what might yet happen in Westminster.
